The Fresh Vetz have gotten a lot of attention on the site lately. The recently released 12-track album, The Tape Effect, shows that this attention is well deserved.
DJ Pause, one half of the Long Island, NY duo, produced the entire project with an old school flow in mind. Dashah completes the project with his laid-back, yet assertive, rap style that is reminiscent of old school hip hop that just became old enough to even be considered "old school"; Nas, Wu-Tang, etc.
FVZ has been building up the buzz to this album with singles like "Unity" and "Cruizin". These two tracks fit perfectly with the theme of the entire project and served as great examples of what to expect; a tribute to old school hip hop.
The album starts with "The Tape Effect", where FVZ sets the tone for the entire album. The rest of the album is dope and takes you back to the days where a significant part of hip-hop sounded like it. The full project killed the whole old school idea, but two tracks where this is done to near perfection would probably have to be "Nostalgia State of Mind" and "P*ssy Power".
The Tape Effect should be in everyone's playlist when they're trying to layback, soak in life for what it is, or dream about what it may not really be.
